In the 2024/2025 academic year, Algebra Bernays University students made an indelible mark on the Croatian national academic sports scene. Competing under the unified name for the first time, the university’s teams achieved remarkable success, securing championships in highly competitive team sports like futsal and volleyball. The futsal team, under the leadership of Coach Matija Đulvat, clinched their fifth consecutive student league championship and proudly hold the title of European vice-champions. The volleyball team, coached by Petra Biti, continued their winning streak, earning their third student league title. Individual players also shone brightly, with Leonarda Grabić receiving the Best Volleyball Player award and Filip Novak earning both Top Scorer and Best Player accolades in the futsal league.
Beyond the Team: Individual Achievements
Algebra University’s commitment to athletic excellence extends beyond team sports. Tena Šusterić, for the second year running, won a silver medal in taekwondo at the national finals, demonstrating remarkable individual skill and dedication. The university also saw strong performances in football, reaching the quarterfinals, and debuted in handball, expanding its athletic horizons. Further showcasing its diverse athletic program, Algebra University students competed in esports, reaching the semifinals in Rocket League, as well as in chess and padel.
