In light of the emergency conditions as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, some decisions were taken by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education regarding the organization of the progress of education in the various educational stages such as primary, secondary schools, and university levels, as well as organizing secondary exams and transportation stages.
In Egypt, we review the decisions of the new Minister of Higher Education:
Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, announced in a picture message the new ministry’s decisions in light of these exceptional circumstances the world is going through, taking into consideration preserving the student’s abilities to learn and move to the new levels of education with ease steps.
The transfer years for the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades of primary school until the second preparatory will be stopped on the last school day, which is March 15, 2020 (the day the decision was taken due to school closures in EGYPT) and create a research project, including the student’s lessons throughout the entire study period.
The rest of the curriculum in the coming year will be completed after the crisis ends.
Students in the third stage of high school have agreed with the universities to study in the foundation year in the first stage.
The first and second secondary grades will be remote exams via the Internet and will include everything that was achieved until March 15, 2020 (the beginning of the closure of schools). Their exams will be starting online on April 5, 2020, from home in batches according to their seating number distribution.
Third grade secondary: The tests will include everything that was studied until March 15, 2020, while adhering to the announced exam schedule for the end of the academic year. The ministry is taking all preventive and necessary measures for student safety, including reducing the number of students in the committees to address the risks associated with infectious diseases.
The preparatory stage for the third grade:
An integrated research project is made for the second semester and it is mandatory for success.
From this, the student will get their results for the whole academic year for the two semesters.
Technical Education Students: Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Tareq Shawky, announced that students will continue their classes through remote learning from the official Ministry of Education websites (Egypt Educational Channel 11747 My Head – Nilesat), on the technical education sector forums, click here.
Schools of applied technology and schools of competencies will communicate with teachers and students from the years of transportation through a specialized website click here
From the period 18 to 23 April 2020, schools of practical technology and technical education students were asked to conduct remote activities in their specialization, which included practical projects, applied studies, implementation of engineering models using the computer, and making a visual presentation file for the responsible teacher.
Each of the students has to prepare a compilation file for educational activities from the period of April 26 to June 15, 2020, and it should be delivered to their school three weeks before the start of the new academic year and a score will be calculated based on the evaluation of these projects.
International schools:
The decisions included British schools and the American diploma update.
British certificate Going from the first grade to the ninth through conducting research determined by the school administration
Sixth, eighth, and ninth grades: Examination fees are refunded by the concerned authorities.
The tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades are evaluated by the British Council.
For national subjects from the first to eleventh grades, a research project is presented.
American diploma update:
A research project is presented to students from the first grade to the twelfth grade, specifying the school administration for the transition to the higher level.
Twelfth grade and enrollment in higher universities is divided into two parts:
One for students who have not taken the SAT test, the GPA represents 100% of the total enrollment in the university, and every major holds an entrance examination accepted by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the qualifying subjects.
-Other for Students who have tested SAT requires the student to enroll in the university according to the GPA result for the past years, or for the GPA to represent 100% of the university’s total admission.
National subject exam: From the first grade to the twelfth grade, scientific research is presented and the result from the research will added to the results of the first term test and are transferred to the higher grade, while the twelfth-grade students hold their exams with the general secondary students.

On April 2/2020, details of the required research projects and how they will be evaluated are published, and students will be assigned to research from April 5/2020.

In Kuwait, we review the decisions of the new Minister of Higher Education:
The Kuwaiti Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Saud Al-Harbi, announced that the study will be suspended and will be re-studied on August 8, 2020, in order to complete the remainder of the second term for the twelfth grade of the secondary stage and to complete the remaining academic stages until the eleventh grade on October 4, 2020.
It has been announced that the resumption of working hours for students and teachers will be on August 4, 2020, and will resume studies in the twelfth grade on August 8, 2020. The study will continue for 6 weeks according to curricula that have been modified to suit the current conditions and achieve the scientific goal. The new academic year will begin in the month of December.
The Minister asserted his interest in the twelfth grade because the number of students affiliated is about 38,000 students, and he stated that the resumption of work for the administrative body will be on September 29, 2020, and for students from the first grade to the eleventh grade on October 4, 2020.
Private and international schools stop study:
Private schools are divided into two parts, one that follows Kuwaiti curricula, and the other that follows British and American curricula. The two parts are subject to the decision to stop the study and this decision is sovereign and issued by the Cabinet and applies to all bodies, Kuwait without exception.
